F2 IMOLA - 2022
Liam and Formula 2’s first ever visit to the Imola circuit in Italy turned out to be a disappointing weekend.
Despite Carlin supplying Liam with a fast car, blocking and tyre performance drop-off in qualifying left the Red Bull-Rodin Cars #5 down in 14th place.
A great recovery drive in the Sprint race saw Liam finish in 8th place, and take a single championship point.
Another great start in the Feature race had Liam rocket from 14th to 8th on the first lap before the race was neutralised with a Safety Car period. This allowed those who started on the super-soft tyres a chance to dash into the pits for their compulsory pit stop before the track went green again. Drivers, like Liam, that started on the medium tyres were at an immediate disadvantage. Running as high as second for those that started on the mediums, taking his pitstop in racing conditions dropped him well down the order before broken steering a handful of laps before the end of the race sent the car crashing heavily into the wall.
