F2 LE CASTELLET - 2022
Racing at Le Castellet, or Paul Ricard, signalled a return to the circuit where Liam won on debut in the EuroFormula Open championship in April 2019. And he returned to the winners circle once again.
Liam put in a gutsy drive to win the Sprint race. After falling back a spot from his P2 start, he won an all-Kiwi duel with Marcus Armstrong to retake
his starting position.
Then, after hunting down race leader Jehan Daruvala, Liam pounced for the lead after the only re-start in the race on lap 15 of 21. He then stretched out his advantage to win by 3.206-seconds at the chequered flag. Liam also set the fastest time of the race, 1:47.984 on the final lap. The win was his 6th podium of the season.
In the Feature race Liam moved up two spots on the opening lap to sit in 7th and after the pits stops had all cycled through he maintained the place all the way to the finish of the race.
After moving up and down the leaderboard over recent rounds, Liam left the French circuit with a few more points and held 5th place in the championship standings.
